Cruising Cleaner Car Show - Come out and see a variety of fuel-efficient and alternative fuel vehicles, including gas-electric Hybrids, Zap Cars, Smart Cars, cars that burn vegetable oil and biodiesel, ethanol vehicles, and the UK Solar Car. Also see a home-made biodiesel processor on the Trade Show floor. The owners and drivers of these vehicles will be on-hand to share their experiences and answer questions.
Renewable Energy Exhibitors - Meet some of the region's leading renewable energy dealers and installers, on display both outside the Convention Center and on the Trade Show floor, and see their renewable energy hardware up close and in action.
Kid's Energy Expo- Energetic and educational activities for kids focused on energy conservation and renewable energy. Activities will include hands-on renewable energy explorations, workshops for building solar ovens, art activities involving recycled materials, mural painting, storytelling, and much more!
The Energy Discovery Zone- Enter this multi-media exhibit to learn about energy, using hands-on science experiments and activities developed for the 2006 Kentucky State Fair. Learn about your "ecological footprint," conduct an energy audit of your home using computer software, ride an "Energy Bike" and feel what it takes to power a light bulb, and experiment with various other energy exhibits. Exhibit materials donated by the Jefferson County Public Schools Center for Environmental Education and presented by the Berea College Sustainability and Environmental Studies Program and the Tracy Farmer Center for Environmental Education at the UK School of Agriculture.
UK Energy Star Exhibit, presented by the University of Kentucky Department of Agriculture - This exhibit will demonstrate how to make your home healthier and more energy efficient, with examples of energy efficient lighting, heat recovery vents, and efficient wall-framing techniques. Will include displays about radon and lead paint risks.
Free Consultations with Architects and Designers - Speak with building and design professionals about your upcoming building or remodeling project.
Solar Energy Poster Exhibit - This exhibit will feature posters describing some Kentucky solar homes and explaining the principles of passive solar design.
Computer-Based Home Energy Audits - Using on-line home energy auditing software, simply enter a few basic facts about your home and receive advice about the most cost-effective and beneficial steps to take to improve the energy efficiency of your home. Available in the Energy Discovery Zone.
Home Energy Audits - How much energy do your appliances use? - Students from Berea College's SENS Program will show visitors how to use a Watt meter to measure the power consumption of various appliances. You may be surprised to see how much energy some appliances use, and what this can cost over time.
What is Your Ecological Footprint? This computer program allows you to understand the scale of your personal (and your community, or nation's) impact on the Earth. Available in the Energy Discovery Zone.
Art Exhibit and Mural Painting - Citizen's Create presents an exhibit of Kentucky-made artwork, accompanied by performances from local musicians. Visitors can help artists from Citizen's Create to paint a large mural.
The Renewable Energy Roadshow's Solar Electric House - ASPI's Renewable Energy Roadshow features a miniature Solar Electric House, exhibiting Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), cutting-edge solar technology. The Roadshow includes a model solar water heater.
